Why does the weekend always go by so fast?
Any way, it's Monday so I'm linking up with Mrs. Laffin for:
Science
This week we're wrapping up our unit on plants by learning about photosynthesis. Last week I introduced the word - most students remembered the word once they saw it, but a few said they had never heard it. One of the strategies I'm learning in my RETELL class is to preview vocabulary so I'm trying it out.
Social Studies
We going to start a new chapter on local history in our beautiful Massachusetts books:
Now it's onward and upward to Deb's Anchor's Away Link-Up!

We going to start a new chapter on local history in our beautiful Massachusetts books:
I like this last chapter because we get to discuss where tax money goes. Plus on June 11th, we'll be visiting the Mayor who likes to ask if the kids know about taxes.
Writing
Next week all the third graders get to write a persuasive paragraph about a topic of their choice. Last week, we wrote about why we should clean up after ourselves in the cafeteria. Here's Cameron's finished paragraph:
At least, he has a title that catches your attention. I guess this is what happens when the kids edit their own writing.
I'm looking forward to what the kids will write for their opinion paragraphs this week.
Math
We are going to continue on with our measurement notebook activities as well as review and learn more about fractions.
This week I'm showing an old anchor chart from the beginning of the year because it's a little different from the ones I do now:
I saw an anchor chart similar to this one on another blog; I got the Place Value sign for free from a TPT seller. I can't remember who to give credit to for either, but I do like to borrow others' ideas and make them my own. Plus, I'm definitely going to spend some time reviewing place value now because the kids could always use some review.
Have a wonderful week!
Cameron's paragraph made me laugh! :) I like the blocks you drew on the lines to connect students to the manipulatives! Thanks for linking up!
