The Reading Strategies Book ~ Breaking It Down and Book Study!

Happy Fourth of July Weekend!

My Background Story

I have owned The Reading Strategies Book for over one year.  Last fall I even went to a Heinemann professional development day in which author Jennifer Serravallo spoke about and explained her book, but I still found this book overwhelming.  That's why I'm so excited to link up with Crystal from Teaching Little Miracles.

I want to use these amazing reading strategies to help my students, and I now feel ready to tackle the book!

Before Reading

There are plenty of available resources to help you understand and get the most out of this book:

Video walk-through of book from Jennifer!

The more your know, the more you'll put your knowledge into use - which I know all about firsthand!

Here's a quote from page 8 of the book:

Effective reading strategies are like my favorite recipes; they teach you how to accomplish something that is not yet automatic in a broken down, step-by-step manner.  I wouldn't ever tell a novice cook to just "whip up a souffle!" without telling her how...

Of course, if you go to the bakery or assemble "no bake" creations like me, you won't need a souffle recipe in the first place!

Thanks for visiting today and enjoy the 4th of July!

  1. Thanks for sharing the Heinemann links and the link to Jen's video! I hadn't thought about visiting those pages prior to reading. How neat that you got to see her speak as well! I'm glad to be participating in this book study with you!
